Mirror conversation - Solitary confinement

"I was sent to Menard prison in Southern Illinois to photograph 'Prison Life'. Walking cell block to cell block with security guards, we passed solitary confinement. I saw all these hands holding mirrors, reflecting faces. The guard told me the inmates communicate with each other using mirrors. This prisoner was talking to me. After I left, I stopped for a cup of coffee and was thinking about him... What he would give to be sitting next to me, having a cup of coffee..."
